The standard rally towel exists to be seen from the far side of a stadium while somebody waves it over their head. That single requirement drives every decision: high contrast, heavy strokes, and a design that survives being blurred by motion.

We print by screen onto hemmed cotton at 15 by 18 inches, the size that is big enough to read and small enough to wave one-handed. One to four ink colours, with the first colour carrying almost all of the legibility.

The mistake we see most is a design built for a screen rather than for a crowd. Fine type, gradients and thin outlines disappear at distance and in motion; a bold word and a single mark do not. We will redraw artwork to suit, and we will say so before printing rather than after.

How many ink colours should I use?

One or two. The first colour does nearly all the work at distance, and every extra colour adds cost while adding very little legibility once the towel is moving. Save the detail for the printed sleeve if the towel is bagged.

Why does my design need redrawing?

Because a rally towel is read at thirty metres while being waved. Thin outlines, small type and gradients blur into grey. We rebuild artwork with heavier strokes and higher contrast, and show you both versions before printing.
